Join Tamara Smith and Margot Cairnes for an inspiring discussion about conscious politics and how Tamara navigates a conscious philosophy in life and work. Engage and connect with local and regional business women.

Tamara Smith

Tamara is the first woman to represent the electorate of Ballina and the first Greens MP in a regional seat in any Parliament of Australia. She is an Adjunct Fellow in the School of Law and Justice at Southern Cross University, is on the NSW Legislative Assembly Committee on Law and Justice and was part of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Pacific Women’s Forums in Samoa and the Solomon Islands.

Margot Cairnes, BEd(Hons)(University Medal), MBA 

Margot’s started her career managing Darwin Family Centres, she oversaw the majority of the child care and family support for the Top End of Australia.  She also lectured in Urban Sociology and education. After obtaining an MBA she went on the found The Change Dynamic which became Zaffyre Pty Ltd – for many years Australia’s largest and most successful organizational change company. Margot mentored the Boards and Top teams of companies such as BP Oil global (in London) and BHP here in Australia.  Margot has written 6 books on leadership in times of rapid change and has represented Australia at the World Economic Forum, sharing platforms with Queen Rania of Jordan and Hilary Clinton.  Margot is currently writing her 7th book titled:- “Simple Wisdom for Clever People:- Leading miraculous lives, businesses and communities in change times”. 

She works extensively in the community – being a founder of Sourdough Business Women and a  member of the Health and well being committee of Resilient Byron.  Margot is a trained yoga teacher, hypnotist and company director.  She has done extensive studies in psychotherapy and, as a community service, works with addicts and those struggling with relationships.

SBW Byron Chapter Hubs occur the first Wednesday of every month.  It’s an opportunity to come together as women in business in the Northern Rivers to learn, network, collaborate and be inspired.
